RECAP: QUEEN VIC MARKET ULTIMATE FOODIE TOUR
Melburnians and the majority of interstate and overseas visitors alike will be no stranger to all the tasty delights of the Queen Victoria Market. If you're like me and occasionally find it difficult to choose between the endless food options on offer, look no further than the Ultimate Foodie Tour that serves up some of the best foods available at the market.
The 90 minute walking tours take place a few times a week and participants not only get to feast on signature items from a selection of vendors but will also discover fun facts about the history and ins and outs of the marketplace alongside great shopping tips.
We grabbed some coffees before making our way over to the tour meet up point. First up, some fresh oysters to whet the appetite before moving through tasty morsels like Tribal Taste's candied salmon (candy and salmon don't sound like they belong together but wow, this was highly moreish and addictive!), Chicken Pantry's peppered roo, Hellenic Deli's saganaki stuffed olives, Traditional Pasta Shop's creamy pumpkin and mushroom ravioli and much, much more. And no market visit is complete without some fresh hot jam doughnuts from the American Doughnut Kitchen van, catering to Melbourne's doughnut needs since the 1940s!
