EAT: THE FLINDERS STREET PROJECT, ADELAIDE
Nothing like some caffeination... scratch that, MUCH caffeination and a tasty breakfast dish to bounce back from an early 6.50 AM flight.
After landing in Adelaide, I made a beeline for the city with my sights set on coffee number two and some breakfast at The Flinders Street Project cafe. As memory serves from my last trip to Adelaide in 2013, the food scene was a noticeable contrast to that in Melbourne… to put it nicely. A few years on in 2017, and going by my breakfast at The Flinders Street Project among other dining experiences in Adelaide, it looks like they’ve well and truly caught up. The coffee at FSP was excellent. The food, even better. A simple combination of smashed avocado on toasted rye bread, topped with poached eggs, salad leaves, pine nuts and two creamy slabs of pan fried SA halloumi but perfection on a plate thanks to execution and quality ingredients. An excellent start to our Adelaide adventures and food adventures indeed.
