RECAP: HWKR LAUNCH, MELBOURNE
As some of my Instagram followers will have seen, I recently visited Singapore and Malaysia for the first time. Aka hawker centre central. But prior to that, I actually had my first hawker centre-like experience (emphasis on the like) here in Melbourne with the recent opening of HWKR.
While not quite like the hawker centres in Asia, the concept at HWKR is very much the same bringing together several Asian vendors under the one roof. Further distinguishing HWKR from the originals is the rotation of vendors every few months. Avid Masterchef fans will of course recognise last year's winner Diana Chan at her pop up venture Chanteen, alongside others including Reynold Poernomo's Koi desserts, Rice Paper Scissor's Khao and Hong Kong's famed Bread & Beast.
Bring a couple of your friends - sharing always seems the best way to go when faced with too many tasty options to choose from!
