EAT: THERE CAFE, FOOTSCRAY
A recent addition to Footscray’s expanding cafe scene is new kid on the block, Gathered Cafe. First impressions count and the beautiful space and fit out will stun even before you step foot into the venue. And the awe and captivation just grows from there as you make your way through the venue.
The coffee is from Seven Seeds, so you know you’re in good hands there. Especially if your preferred flavour is strong. As for the food, the menu was quite scaled back when I visited during their first week of operation (the perks of living just down the road!), and the offerings were simple. Granola, salads, sandwiches, rolls, toasties, or in my case, the ’smashed avo’ with an egg. It was by no means the best avocado toast I've ever had but the flavours were fresh and tasty enough, so no complaints on my end.
Definitely worth visiting, even if only to check out (and appreciate) the space, with at least a coffee in hand! I know I will be back…
