EAT: WINE 1160, ARMADALE
For many, wining and dining go hand in hand. But for someone like me who took years to cultivate even the slightest appreciation for wine, many of my dinners still take place sans vino. But I'd be doing myself a disservice if I did so at Armadale wine bar, Wine 1160.
The wine bar houses some impressive 180-200 wine varieties at any given time; a collection that is carefully curated by owner Prabir. You do not have to spend too long in Prabir's company before being swept away by his large and infectious dose of enthusiasm and passion towards wine... and realising that in his hands, a great vino (or two, or three...) is guaranteed. Unsurprisingly, food and wine pairings are also nailed to perfection, with recommended pairings laid out on the menu, although there is also much wiggle room to deviate if one so wishes. Bites on the menu range from small snacks to heartier mains and also include quite a nice selection of cheeses (perhaps the ultimate food and wine pairing). So what are you waiting for? While away the afternoon with some great company, great food and some superb wines at Wine 1160.
