EAT: THE KETTLE BLACK, SOUTH MELBOURNE
On the scene for several years now since my PhD/early blogging days and still commanding quite an audience even nowadays, The Kettle Black has well and truly established itself as one of Melbourne’s favourite breakfast/brunch destinations. It’s a solid pick when it comes to both the coffee (Five Senses) and food, amongst a stunning Victorian terrace backdrop and cafe space. The success of the cafe is none too surprising given that sibling cafes Top Paddock (another oldie but goodie) and Higher Ground are also on the list of top Melbourne cafes. The food itself goes above and beyond the standard brunch offerings, with a finer touch that accompanies the quality produce, ingredient pairings and perfect execution of each dish. Nods of satisfaction all around the table, practically guaranteed.
At the time of writing this review and the covid-19 stage three restrictions currently in place, The Kettle Black remains open for takeaway and delivery.
