EAT [TAKEAWAY]: NAVI BAKERY [RESTAURANT NAVI, YARRAVILLE]

Those who know me well know how much I love my bread. So much so that I’ve been known to grab a bread roll or two at buffet settings despite knowing full well it would take up valuable stomach real estate. A good bread can make or break a dining experience, and an excellent bread can even form the dining highlight of a meal. As was the case with our Navi Home dinner for two menu - the freshly baked sourdough roll had me singing its praises from first bite to last, and my mouth is actually currently watering as I recall the memory. Luckily a larger form of the sourdough is available through Navi Bakery, another takeaway initiative by the restaurant made in light of the covid restrictions.

With the taste of the sourdough haunting my taste buds, I jumped on the next available opportunity to place a preorder for their sourdough, and couldn’t resist throwing in some other goodies. I can’t recommend the sourdough enough - this was still warm/fresh from the oven when I picked up the order. It’s a shame we had already eaten breakfast (silly me) and waited until the next day to tuck into this… still good of course, but I can only imagine how much better it would’ve tasted fresh on the Saturday. Scratch that, I do KNOW - we had it fresh during our dinner for two. Right on cue, there goes the salivary glands again…

The bakery runs on Saturday and Sunday mornings, with pre-orders taken via their website from 10am on Friday. Pick up only. Set an alarm for 10am if you’re keen (me!) because these go like… hot cakes. Hot bread. The easing of restrictions in June will see the opening of Navi again for dine in service, and the closing of their Navi Bakery/Dinner for Two takeaway options. In short, it’s your last chance to try Navi Bakery next weekend… (whipping out my phone to set an alarm for 10am Friday)
