EAT: THE LEFT-HANDED CHEF, SOUTH MELBOURNE
Sometimes the decisions are best left in the hands of a more than capable chef when it comes to choosing what to eat. Especially if everything on the menu sounds absolutely delicious, leaving you paralyzed with indecisiveness. We were guilty as charge when it came to perusing the menu at South Melbourne’s Left Handed Chef eatery earlier this year (pre-iso times) but luckily for us, there was indeed a leave-it-up-to-the-chef option with The Chef’s Platter. On the day of our visit, our platter comprised of a carbilicious and incredibly delicious assortment of Israeli goodies. Super generous spread too, I might add. Some of my favourites included the eggplant sabich in a pitta (a thick, fluffy pitta filled with silky pieces of eggplant, fried potatoes, boiled egg and tahini sauce) and the velvety smooth and flavoursome hummus (it’s one of their signature dishes with good reason!). I do also enjoy a good falafel and the left handed chef dishes out an excellent one when it comes to both flavour and texture, not at all dry. Would highly recommend.
At the time of writing this review and the re-introduction of covid stage three restrictions, The Left Handed Chef remain open for takeaway and delivery on Wednesday - Sunday.
