EAT: TOASTA, NORTH MELBOURNE — THEYCALLMEMAGGIE

One of my favourite food trucks in all of Melbourne now has a permanent home, located a mere 2 minutes walk from North Melbourne station. The only problem? It's a huge test for my self control during the evenings when I make that after work trip home...

Having been around in the food scene for the past year or so, Toasta is renown for their epic cheesy toasties, serving up some of Melbourne's best toasties in my books. Trading under the name Toasta and Co, the new North Melbourne space is also occupied by fellow food truck Von Crumb Schnitzel Haus. It seems operating in a proper kitchen without the confines of being inside a truck also offers up more wiggle room when it comes to their menu, with several new toastie variants joining old favourites.

During my first visit to their new digs, we couldn't help but reorder the Mack. Comprised of mac and cheese, caramelised onion and MORE cheese, there is serious wow factor when it comes to Mack's taste. Taking things to the next level, the Mack Daddy also comes with pulled pork and BBQ sauce in addition to everything else that comes with the Mack. Food coma post-feed guaranteed. We also ordered a special toastie that came with salami and cheese. Pizza ingredients sandwiched between two perfect pieces of crunchy toast; can't go wrong!

Salivating yet? I know I am... it looks like my self control may be taking the back seat during this upcoming week...
